Why your customers are not coming to you…
The internet is an over abundance of information, people trying to sell, promoting, shared internists and connecting with their friends. With all of this information being pushed out there, how can you pull people in? You cant, or at least not with out a lot of effort and money. Imagine the internet is one big room, your standing in it and you see another person across the room. What do you do? Why not walk over and say hi, engage them in a conversation, find out why they are there and have a meaningful conversation. Chances are they will take internist in you and want to know why you are there. This creates the opportunity for you to tell them what you do, why you are there and opens the door in a comfortable way to offer your product or service.
When I started online marketing back in 1998 it was easy, you joined a news group, you put your URL on a business card, you did really simple SEO and people came to you. Now it is like a flock of pigeons at the park, unless your giving away free bread, they are going to walk around aimlessly or fly away.
Don’t be afraid to engage your customers online, talk to them, seek them out! Find out why they are there and provide them with a way to find the information they want. This not only helps you understand your customer but it creates the opportunity to do business.
Any old-timer will tell you the best sale is from a referral. You need to create your own referrals nowadays. Build those relationships from the ground up, as a business owner it starts with you not them. The way we sell to people is coming full circle, we have technology at our fingertips and billions of opportunities. All we have to do is talk to them and invite them in!
