It’s on our minds today at Badass Builders. We’re working on emails promoting our own business and thinking about the best ways to get in touch with potential customers.
Here are a few basic guidelines that we’re sticking to, and would recommend to our clients.
Keep it snappy. Say your way you need to say quickly, then thank the reader for his or her time. They’ll be grateful for your brevity.
Qualify your audience. The difference between spam and email marketing is that spam is sent to people who don’t want or need what is being offered. Take the time to gather contacts that by their nature will be interested in your email.
Write well. Bad grammar, misspellings, garbled syntax and run-on sentences all detract from your success. If you don’t feel confident about your writing, hire a professional. It’s money well-spent.
Include links and contact info. It should be obvious, but people often forget to do this.
Follow up. If a person responds to your email, don’t wait. Respond right away and show your appreciation of his or her interest.
Track results. Just about any email marketing service will have methods for you to keep statistics on customer response. It’s very important to know what works and what doesn’t.
Of course, this advice is just the tip of the iceberg. If you have any questions or need help creating your email marketing campaign (or any internet marketing), give us a call.
