Time to branch out?
A lot of people own more than one home. Or more than one vehicle. Why do they do that? Well, usually each vacation home and new Beamer usually serves a purpose. The ski chalet serves a different need than the fishing shack, and the two-seat roadster performs differently than a giant SUV.
The same logic applies to business. You might get sick of your toothpaste and switch to another brand, but still send your toiletry money to the parent company. Or decide on tacos rather than pizza and send your fast food dollars to the conglomerate. Most people think such practices are limited to massive national companies, but that’s not the case. On the internet, a business of any size can do the same thing.
How? It’s simple. Start another website. Or three. As long as you take care of accounting and legal issues, you can split any business into multiple brands, with different names….and different websites, optimized for different search terms and a different segment of your target market. A real estate business could split into commercial, residential and rental divisions, with three separate websites serving three different markets and attracting three distinct types of visitors.
